What is open-kayak?
Open-kayak or sit-on-top kayak is a self-draining kayak in which, unlike closed or touring kayaks, we sit on top (not inside) and contain a drainage system so that water does not accumulate inside. They are very stable, highly buoyant, and easy to use, making them a very good choice for those new to kayaking.
What does the activity consist of?
It is an exciting half-day guided tour of the Costa Daurada in Open-Kayak.
We will start at the beach, where we will have a brief briefing to learn about the different parts of the equipment to be used.
We will talk about the kayak’s hull, how to get on and off it, and even how to flip it over in case we fall into the water.
Finally, we will load the necessary equipment with watertight pots and tie it to the kayak before entering the sea.
Once in the sea, we will discover the flora and fauna that inhabit this privileged environment of the Costa Daurada.
With the help of the snorkeling kit, we will observe the seabed and the irregularities that the sea draws on the coast. For us, the coast bordering the beaches of Tamarit and La Mora are the most beautiful areas of the Tarragona coast.
In some cases, we will visit caves, where we can enter with the kayak. We will also visit small coves and stop at one of them to rest and regain strength before heading back to the starting point.
It will always be a circular route of the duration you decide (3 or 6 hours).
This activity offers a revitalizing and thrilling adventure, perfect for groups of at least four participants. You’ll have the added assurance and security of being guided by a certified sports technician who is intimately familiar with the local area.
